Chisels

Like almost every form of woodworking, including greenwoodworking, chisels have an important role to play.  

Specifically in pole lathe spindle turning, the Ashley Iles Flat Chisel 2" is a key tool to achieve a super smooth finish. The Ashley Iles 2" flat chisel is a dedicated turning tool without a bolster so can't be struck with a mallet but ordinary broad chisels that can be struck such as Ashley Iles Bevel-edged Chisel 2" are also equally fine.

The Robert Sorby range of Timber Framers' Chisels 286 are exceptional, double-hooped so able to sustain years of repeated sticking with a mallet.
