Forest axes are ideal for cutting across the grain of wood fibres, making them suitable for felling and limbing tasks. Unlike log splitting, where the axe moves along the grain of the wood fibres, forest axes must endure harsh and edge-dulling conditions. Therefore, the bevels on forest axes are gently convex, ensuring a longer-lasting sharp edge.
