The Åby is named after the nearest village from Hults Bruk, where many of the workers at the forge lived in the mid 20th century.
The Åby Forest Axe is perfect for shelter building, processing firewood and carving, as well as precision work. Like all of Hultafors axes, it’s hand forged and made from Swedish quality steel. Åby has a straighter edge and grinding, and a good finger notch below the head for increased precision. The long, thin ergonomic handle minimises the weight, at the same time giving you great force when striking.
With careful maintenance, the Åby Forest Axe will remain a dependable companion for many years. Its handle, made from American hickory and finished with linseed oil, measures 600mm (24 inches) and is designed for comfort and efficiency.
