At Woodsmith, we've taken our time to select planes, spokeshaves, and other MTC tools for our range. As primarily green woodworkers, planes haven’t historically been a major focus for us outside of Maurice's collection of pre-war Stanleys. However, with Izzy’s recent foray into chair-making, the need for quality planes arose - and the search revealed a noticeable gap in the quality vs affordability space.

That’s when we discovered MTC. For the price, we think their tools are exceptional. While you can spend a fortune on planes (and we’re probably not the place to come for £1k-plus options), we only stock tools we trust and know do the job well. MTC tools fit that bill perfectly.
