Individually hand-made to order using carefully selected greenwood, this quick-gripping and releasing device has been a staple in traditional woodland craft for centuries. While having diverse applications, its primary role is securing rough billets for precise shaving using a drawknife or spokeshave.

A quintessential tool for pole lathe turners, similar devices have found utility across Europe and the USA for centuries, often in varying designs. Historically embraced by basket makers, chair makers, coopers, and other woodcraft artisans, the English Rustic Style Shave Horse embodies a legacy of traditional craft.

Predominantly constructed from appropriate species of round hardwood, typically ash and sycamore, our rustic-style shave horse is predominantly fashioned from green round wood. As a result, minor seasoning splits may be present, without compromising its strength.

Featuring two legs at the rear and one at the front, its ergonomically shaped seat ensures added comfort. Dimensions will vary depending on the materials available, however as a guide the body will usually span between 4.5-5ft in length and 7-8inches in width.
