Woodsmith 'Ready-to-Turn' Pole Lathe
Please note the lead time for this device is approximately 4-6 weeks.
Get ready to turn with the Woodsmith 'Ready-to-Turn' Pole Lathe. This treadle-operated lathe is designed for turning green, unseasoned wood. It's both a practical tool and a nod to traditional woodworking techniques, most notably used by green woodworkers, and by bodgers to make chair legs and other cylindrical parts of chairs.
Constructed with softwood A-frame legs and a hardwood body, also included are heads, wedges, a tool rest and a couple of spacers and a treadle.
Usually made from materials such as beech or ash. However, the exact wood used may differ based on availability. Despite these variations, you can count on consistent quality and functionality with each device.
The lathe operates using a combination of a springy pole (or shock cord) and a foot-driven treadle. Each lathe is handcrafted and unique, a result of over 30 years of woodworking expertise from Maurice Pyle.
Do note that you'll need to source a long springy pole or side poles for the shock cord attachment separately. Some minor reassembly is required upon delivery, as the legs are detached for more efficient shipping.
