The Veritas Power Tenon Cutter presents a seamless blend of tradition and modern technology, offering a precise solution for creating round tenons. This versatile tool is compatible with both electric drills and traditional hand braces, catering to a wide range of woodworking preferences. It is particularly adept at shaping the ends of coppice materials, making it an ideal choice for crafting rustic furniture.

The tool's design features an anodised aluminium body that ensures smooth, vibration-free operation when powered by an electric drill. This design is complemented by a durable steel shank and a high-carbon steel cutting blade, promising longevity and consistent performance. The cutter is available in eight Imperial sizes, ranging from 5/8" to 2", with metric conversions provided below for convenience. However, please note, for the best fit and accuracy, using Imperial drill bits is recommended due to slight differences when using metric augers.

The maximum tenon length varies by cutter size, with smaller sizes (5/8" - 1") capable of cutting tenons up to 2 3/4" long, and larger sizes (1 1/4" - 2") extending to 4 1/4" long tenons. This adaptability ensures that users can select the optimal size for their specific project needs. Each tenon cutter features a hex shank, with the smaller sizes requiring a 3/8" (or larger) chuck, and the larger sizes necessitating a 1/2" (or larger) chuck to accommodate the increased torque needed.

A notable feature is the built-in spirit level in each tool, enhancing precision and ease of use. The blade is adjustable, allowing for the exact sizing of tenons, and is designed for use in both dry and green wood. Safety is also a key consideration; the back end of the blade is contoured to prevent protrusion beyond the revolving body. Additionally, the cutter includes a built-in honing guide for convenient blade sharpening, ensuring the tool's maintenance is as straightforward as its operation.

It's important to note that the cutter is not intended for use in a drill press, and for those using an older hand brace, Veritas offers a brace adapter for sizes up to 1". Overall, a must-have tool - one we certainly would be lost without in the Woodsmith workshop!

Please note: the most accurate mortices for tenons created by these tools are made with Imperial drill bits. If you use Metric augers, then the small differences needs to be considered.
