The Svante Djarv Timber Axe Single Bevel is a powerful tool when timber framing or log building, and is mostly used like a large chisel, for instance on the sides of the notch.
The Djarvs only grind this particular axe with a chisel bevel, which means a single bevel on one of the sides of the blade. The other side is flat. They make it with a right bevel and a left bevel, but we currently only stock the right bevel option. The axe pictured has a right bevel.

- Total length 42 cm

Svante Djarv Hantverk is a family business based in Avesta, Sweden, that specialises in creating hand-forged wood carving tools. Drawing inspiration from the Swedish metal-working tradition, they've built a broad range of tools, often in collaboration with experienced woodsmiths and craftspeople. Each year, they produce about 4,000 tools and knives, ranging from carving knives to axes, and they also have a unique tool line for children. Every tool is delivered ready for use, crafted from high-quality steel and complemented with handles made from Swedish hardwoods like elm and ash. Woodsmith has had a long-standing relationship with Svante and Elsa Djarv for over a decade, and we're proud to be the UK's largest stockist of their tools.
