The Svante Djarv Timber Axe 1.6 kg, is a well-balanced axe ideal for timber framing and log building. With its straight forged head, this axe excels in notch work and cutting log sides. We currently stock it with a “right” handle, designed for right-hand users, and a straight handle option. The “right” handle curves to give more space for your knuckles, enhancing comfort during use. A very well-balanced axe perfect for timbering.
Handle Variations:
Svante Djarv categorises the handles for Timber Axes based on the user's grip and the resulting orientation of the axe head. Each handle type is crafted to optimise comfort and efficiency for the user, based on their dominant hand and working style.
- Straight Handle: Handle in line with axe head
- Right Handle: Designed for right-handed use. When holding the axe, the right hand is at the end of the handle, causing the top of the axe head to point left. This design provides extra space for the right hand's knuckles, reducing the risk of contact with the log. It's ideal for those who work with their right shoulder closer to the log or wall. The picture featured shows a Svante Djarv Timber Axe - Right Handle.
- Right-Right Handle: A more pronounced curve than the "right" handle, offering even more space for the knuckles on the right hand.
- Left Handle: The mirror image of the "right" handle, designed for left-handed users, with the top of the axe head pointing right when held.
