Introducing a new model of turning hook by Svante Djarv, inspired by a tool made by Lars Aldén in the 80’s. The small model is 17mm and the large one 25mm. The measurements provided are the inside diameters of the hooks.
Measurements for Hanging Hook - Small (17mm):
- Total length: 270 mm
- Thickness neck-tang: Ø10 mm
- Width of hook: 15 mm
Measurements for Hanging Hook - Large (25mm):
- Total length: 300 mm
- Thickness neck-tang: Ø12 mm
- Width of hook: 20 mm
The hanging hooks are forged from SIS 2258 tool steel, a type of bearing steel known for its high heat resistance. The hooks are heat-treated several times to achieve a hardness of approximately 60-61 HRC. The bevel is located on the inside of the hook with a bevel angle of 26 degrees.
These hanging hooks are best used for turning in side grain, both outside and in. They come sharpened, honed, and stropped, making them razor sharp. Please note that they are delivered without a handle.
