The Svante Djarv Drawknife 200mm is expertly hand-forged by the Swedish toolsmiths, Svante and Elsa, at Svante Djarv Hantverk AB. Elsa Djarv describes this as "a handicraft drawknife... for small people or for small work".
Key Features:
Adaptable Handles: You can choose from two unique versions to cater to different needs - 90-degree handles for a more standard grip and 45-degree handles for those who prefer a wider grip. Select your preferred type using the drop-down box.
Versatile Bevel Design: The smart design encourages users to employ the drawknife with its bevel facing downwards for efficient stock removal or, alternatively, with the bevel up for detailed and controlled work.
Dimensions and Durability: Crafted from robust Swedish tool steel, its straight edge extends 200mm (8") in length, 20mm (3/4") in width, and has a thickness of 3mm. This assures consistent sharpness and endurance.
Bevel Angle: With a bevel angle of precisely 27 degrees, this drawknife is geared more towards fine shavings. It's not designed for aggressive material removal but excels when refining and delicate work. The bevel, due to the polishing process, can occasionally present as slightly convex.
Ergonomic Handle: The handles, carved from Swedish elm, span 90mm (3 1/2") in length and feature a ribbed design, ensuring a comfortable and secure grip during prolonged sessions.
Safety Sheath: To maintain the blade's sharpness and protect it from external elements, it comes equipped with a wrap-around leather sheath. Woodsmith specially crafts this sheath from 3mm thick waxy split leather, securely fastened with two poppers.
Sharp and ready to work: Every drawknife arrives sharpened, honed, and primed for immediate use.
About the Maker - Svante Djarv Hantverk AB:
Svante Djarv Hantverk is a family business based in Avesta, Sweden, that specialises in creating hand-forged wood carving tools. Drawing inspiration from the Swedish metal-working tradition, they've built a broad range of tools, often in collaboration with experienced woodsmiths and craftspeople. Each year, they produce about 4,000 tools and knives, ranging from carving knives to axes, and they also have a unique tool line for children. Every tool is delivered ready for use, crafted from high-quality steel and complemented with handles made from Swedish hardwoods like elm and ash. Woodsmith has had a long-standing relationship with Svante and Elsa Djarv for over a decade, and we're proud to be the UK's largest stockist of their tools.
Note: As each Svante Djarv tool is handmade, there may be minor discrepancies in the measurements provided
