Svante Djarv Carving Knives are renowned for their quality and durability. The available range of slojd knives cover all carving requirements, from the finest level of detail through to heavy duty tasks, and everything in between.
The numbers within the name refer to the dimensions of the knife, with the first number displaying width at the thickest point, and the second indicating blade length.
Selecting the Correct Knife for you:Close Detail
These knives are shorter, and most suited to detail work requiring more stability.
- 16x40 - The shortest Svante Djarv Carving Knife, this is designed for small detail work rather than long slicing cuts or tight turns. The deep blade ensures stability and allows the knife to be held close to the edge.
- 17x60 - Larger than the above, this versatile knife is still small enough to complete fine detail work with the added option of a larger range of cuts for small carving projects. Similar to the Mora 120.
Slojd/All Rounders
These are the most popular and most versatile Svante knives, especially for spoon carving, which are great hand forged upgrades to factory made knives such as the Mora 106.
- 16x70 - A great mid sized carving knife, this option is a great all rounder, capable of completing a broad range of tasks.
- 16x80 - Similar dimensions to the Mora 106, this knife is a go to upgrade for those who love the geometry of the 106 but are seeking a more premium equivalent.
- 20x80 - The same length as the above, the slightly deeper blade width provides increased strength and stability. The handle size is slightly larger on this knife.
Large Knives
These knives are the longest carving knives.
- 22x100 - A longer blade with a slightly larger handle size, this knife is great for bigger hands
- 17x105 - The longest blade option, this knife is great for long slicing cuts. the relatively thin blade depth (similar to a Mora 106) means that this knife is still relatively nimble despite the length.
