The Robert Sorby ProEdge Angle Set is a device to set an exact bevel angle on any fingernail or long grind gouge when used in conjunction with the fingernail profiling arm.
For use on the Robert Sorby ProEdge Sharpening System
Place the gouge into the clamp of the profile arm and then extend the gouge up-to the required stop and lock it into place. This will achieve precise and repeatable bevel angles. Four bevel angles possible: 35, 40, 45 and 50 degrees.
The ProEdge Angle Set should be screwed down to the edge of a bench so it does not move around. Slide the gouge to be sharpened through the head of the fingernail profiler, then line the tip of the gouge up to the angle on the ProEdge Angle Set and lock off the fingernail profiler. The face of the fingernail profiler should be up tight to the base of the ProEdge ANGLE SET thus making the distance from the tip of the gouge to the face of the fingernail profiler the same every time you sharpen.
The angle of the belt must be the same each every time so that the sharpening angle stays the same.
Top Tip: write down the settings that you use on the gouge with a permanent marker pen so you don’t forget the settings used.
All metal construction.
