This Shingle Froe has a 15" hand forged blade and an 18" quality hardwood handle.
A tough tool made in the USA by Peavey Manufacturing Co.
Despite PMCo calling this a froe to make roofing shingles with, it can of course be used for more general work to split wood down the grain.
Some may consider the 15" long blade quite long for most general duties but used on straight grained wood, even logs at the upper limit can be tackled.
Equal bevels are ground to about 50 degrees and comes reasonably sharp.
Peavey Manufacturing Co have made a range of tough professional quality forestry tools for more than 150 years.
The welded eye for the handle is tapered to match the taper on the handle so the harder the back of the froe is hit the tighter it becomes.
The handle is made from straight grained American ash and 18"(460mm) long.
The Peavey Manufacturing Co. Shingle Froe has a total weight 1300g.
