Morris of Dunsford (Edge Tools) ceased production of their billhooks and other edge tools during the summer of 2022 and are no longer available.
When in production, these hand forged billhooks were not perfect by any means, but due to the quality of the steel used and the specification of the blade, they worked better than almost anything else on the market.
Currently, we only have one example available for sale. It is in a new and unused condition with a Woodsmith leather sheath. It is sharp, and ready to use.
The Morris Double-Edged Billhook is a lightweight billhook with two edges, one straight and one curved. Essentially two tools in one.
Includes 'ready to use' Woodsmith sharpened edges and a custom leather sheath.
Great for the harvesting of coppice material, small poles, working material up and cleaving. Some hedge-layers like these for cutting smaller stems in relatively tight spaces.
Often known as a Staffordshire Billhook.
The Morris Double-edged Billhook has a round handle so each edge can be used comfortably in the hand.
Like all Morris billhooks the cutting bevels are long without shoulders and ground to about 25 degrees. The tang runs the full length of the handle.
Made from forged EN9 Medium carbon steel for good edge retention.
The handle is made in ash and is 150mm (6") long and varnished. The blade is approx. 230mm (9" long).
