The Morakniv Scout 39 Classic is a fantastic outdoor knife for people of all ages, but specifically designed as a smaller knife for younger people or children as their first knife. Alongside careful adult supervision, the barrel-shaped handle made of Scandinavian FSC® certified birch wood and the double finger guard prevents fingers sliding forwards over the blade.
Ever since they were first introduced in the 1930s, the characteristic Scout knives have been an obvious entry-level knife for children and a door opener for a richer outdoor life.
It comes in two variations (please select from the drop-down box). One has a rounded tip, which provides extra safety as reduces the likelihood of the tip piercing skin. The pointy version is more appropriate if your young person has developed some confidence and ability with the knife.

Recommend you watch this short safety video from Morakniv with your young person. However please note, we'd personally advise you don't use gloves - your hands have better grip. Also, when unsheathing the knife it is best practice to teach your young person to unsheath with both elbows tight to the body; this increases control and reduces the likelihood of the knife swinging outwards or accidentally cutting hands. If you need any further advice please contact us directly (we're always happy to help!) or discuss with a professional bushcraft / outdoor instructor.
