Julia Kalthoff's journey in axe making began at Gränsfors Bruk, a name synonymous with quality forging. Her talent and hard work quickly led her to significant roles at Wetterlings, where she became CEO.

Julia sharpened her forging skills at these well-known forges, which inspired her to start her own business. The first product she created, the Small Carver, reflects her commitment to high-quality axes, evident in every aspect of their design and use.

We first met Julia during her time at Wetterlings and have since welcomed her in the North East. One of her earliest axes is still regularly used by Maurice, showcasing its lasting quality and durability.

Julia’s axes are more than just tools. They represent a fusion of tradition, skilled craftsmanship, and practical use. Her work is driven by a passion for slöjd, the Swedish tradition of handcraft, and the deep satisfaction that comes from creating with one's hands. We're proud to be the only UK retailer of these fantastic axes.
