Japanese Fine and Polishing Waterstones are superfine grit sharpening stones used to bring metal to an absolute mirror finish, and hence an ultra sharp edge.

Suitable for carving knives, chisels, plane blades, gouges where a superfine cutting edge is desirable
Coarser waterstones can be stored in water, but these fine stones are harder and not so porous, so only need to be soaked in water for two minutes before use then occasionally sprinkled with water during use. Leave dry when not in use.
