The Gränsfors Bruk Small Splitting Axe is a hand tool crafted specifically for efficiently splitting smaller 'rounds' of firewood. Its design, while compact, doesn't compromise on power. Uniquely engineered with concave cheeks and a fairly sharp, thin bit, the Small Splitting Axe seamlessly splits logs. The axe cuts quickly and easily into the wood and then effectively splits it as the broader section pushes apart the wood.

It's worth noting that while the axe is superb for splitting, its poll isn't meant for striking steel wedges in stubborn log rounds. This tool is particularly apt for those who might need to downsize pre-purchased firewood or create kindling. It's versatile in use, allowing for both single-handed and two-handed operations.

• Head Details: Weighs 2lbs with a cutting edge measuring 65mm (2 1/2"). Total axe weight 3.5lbs (1.6kg).
• Handle: Made from durable American hickory, this handle spans 585mm (23"). It's been designed with circular grooves towards the end to ensure optimal grip during use.
• Safety Features: A steel collar guard is strategically positioned below the head to minimise handle damage due to overshooting.
• Sheath: Each axe is accompanied by a vegetable tanned leather sheath, ensuring protection during storage and transit.
• Extras: The Gränsfors Bruk Axe Book is included, offering insights into axe care and use. Additionally, a 20-year forging guarantee is provided on the head.
• Maintenance: For those unforeseen situations, replacement handles and sheaths are readily available at Woodsmith. Plus, for more extensive damage or wear, our workshop offers repair and restoration services.
