Fawn Foot Pattern Replacement Axe Handles are designed to fit older English axes from makers such as Elwell, Brades and Gilpin.
Made from premium quality American Hickory with a fawn foot pattern swell knob. Hickory is widely considered to be the most suitable wood for axe handles.
Handle sizes 24" and above are supplied with a both a single wooden wedge and a steel wedge. Handle sizes 12" - 16" are supplied with just a wooden wedge.

- 36″ (920mm), to fit an eye that is approx 79mm x 18mm
- 36″ (920mm), to fit an eye that is approx 90mm x 22mm
The hardwood wedge supplied will span the full width of the handles eye-wood and sometimes a bit more so will almost certainly need adjusting to fit. The species of the wooden wedge may vary but usually oak.
Finished with a light wax, may require a light sanding when fitted. Always glue wooden wedges in place.

To accommodate these longer items, we currently use Parcelforce services, which accept parcels of this size but come at a higher cost than our standard shipping rates.
